About the Narrow Plait Band design
Two cords swing along this band in a chain of linked ovals, crossing through the center in a row of tight X shapes where each strand ducks under one neighbor and rides over the next. The ends hold the surprise. Instead of looping around, the cord bends into a flat-backed D at each side, with squared corners and a straight upright edge, so the plait looks threaded through a pair of buckles.
