Where the word calm comes from
Calm has a hidden history in heat. The Greek kauma meant the burn of midday, the hours when Mediterranean work stopped, and through Late Latin and Italian the rest hour became the stillness itself.
So calm originally named the pause the sun forces. A bathroom or bedroom borrows exactly that hour.
