Where the word dream comes from
Dream is the best double life in English. The Old English dream meant joy and music, the noise of a feasting hall, and the sleeping sense arrived later, likely from the Old Norse draumr.
So the word has meant both music and vision, which is roughly what it still promises above a bed.
