Where the word feast comes from
Feast descends from the Latin festa, the joyful rites of the holiday calendar, through the Old French feste. Festival and fiesta are the same word wearing different journeys.
It hangs over a dining table as a standing invitation, and slightly raises the stakes of an ordinary Tuesday.
