Where the word goblin comes from
Goblin comes through medieval Latin gobelinus, recorded in Normandy in the eleven hundreds, and probably traces back to the Greek kobalos, a rogue or a mischief maker.
It has meant a small troublesome spirit for nine hundred years without ever settling on a fixed appearance.
