Where the word gusto comes from
Gusto is Italian and Spanish for taste, from the Latin gustus. English borrowed the word in the sixteen hundreds and then quietly changed what it was about.
Where the original describes the flavour of the thing, the English word describes the appetite of the person, which is the version worth putting on a wall.
