Where the word munch comes from
Munch is a word made of the noise it describes, recorded in English from the fourteen hundreds, though the French mangier may have nudged its shape. Nothing about it is borrowed wholesale.
It is the honest word for eating something loudly and enjoying it, which is what a snack corner is for.
