Where the word rowan comes from

Rowan is the mountain ash, a tree hung with red berries, and also the Irish name Ruadhan, from ruadh, red.

Rowan was planted by Scottish doorways to keep the house safe. Two separate roots, one spelling, and both of them point at the same colour.
