About the Diagonal Small Leaf design
Nine almond leaves line one curved stem that rises from a blunt stub at the bottom and bends toward the upper right. The leaves alternate rather than pair up, five on the right and four on the left, each hung from its own short stalk. They lean outward and upward at slightly different angles, and the topmost leaf caps the stem tip, so the whole sprig seems to be reaching across the wall in a breeze.
