About the Leaning Staff Cross design
Propped against the right arm of this cross, a slender staff bows in a gentle curve and ends in a round knob that peeks just above the crossbar. Each arm widens slightly toward its square tip, giving the cross a sturdy, old churchyard outline. The upright plants itself in a heaped mound of lumpy earth that steps down in rough tiers. On the right, a thin spike juts from the dirt at a sharp angle like a dropped blade.
