About the Obelisk design
Every inch of this obelisk is solid steel, with no carved name, crack or window breaking the black. The shaft tapers so gently that its sides look almost parallel until they meet a short, squat pyramid cap at the top. At the bottom it widens in three stepped tiers like a little staircase seen from the front, and the lowest is a thin, broad slab that juts out past the others.
