About the Splayed Hand design
A thick wrist punches up through a low heap of earth, and the whole hand is one unbroken black silhouette with no knuckles or nails marked. The thumb swings far out to the left and hooks slightly upward at its tip, sitting much lower than the four fingers. Those fingers spread apart like the ribs of a paper fan, long and slender with soft rounded ends. Below, the dirt swells into a row of rounded humps that spread well past both sides of the arm.
