Where the Mills name comes from

Mills is an English and Scottish occupational surname. It formed from the word mills, in reference to mill owners and mill workers.

Mills is also a habitational surname from Irish, an anglicization of an Mhuilinn, meaning "of the mill". The surname was later transferred to use as a male given name.
