About the Eight Point Star design
Two squares cross here, one upright and one turned a quarter turn, and all eight tips finish in square corners rather than needle points. The opening inside echoes that outline as a broad octagon with eight nearly equal sides, leaving a narrow band of steel around it. Between each pair of tips the edge makes one small right-angled step, the shape of a stair tread turned on its side.
