About the Skewer design
A rod runs corner to corner across the whole design, and three rounded squares ride along it, each tipped onto a point so the row becomes a line of diamonds. Every one of them is an open frame with a long angled slot inside, and the slot at the top of the row is the stubbiest of the three. The pieces crowd together, corners overlapping, while the rod stays bare for a short stub at the top and a longer run at the bottom.
