About the Thick Ring design
Both edges are true circles sharing a single center, and the opening between them takes up roughly two thirds of the overall width. That makes the band a collar rather than a slab, substantial but nowhere close to filling the middle. Nothing interrupts the circuit, no flat spot, no notch, no gap. The inner curve is as clean as a bored hole.
